]]>It's been a while since I last updated this blog, yes... New city and new challenges... but I am happy to see the community spirit alive and kicking... so here's a small teaser of this Festival that's happening here in Toronto...
I am having the chance to check out the 2nd. Annual Kouraba African Festival at the Paroisse du Sacre Coeur and have a quick taste of the african cuisine and connect with amazing artists and see great performances and presentations:
Can't wait to see more live music tonight...
Stay tuned!

]]>The evening of the April 14th-15th granted us with a total lunar eclipse. Amazing experience to see the Earth's shadow covering the moon! Check out some photos and stay tuned for a short but outstanding timelapse!
]]>It's been a while since my last post... but here's a small update on one of the projects that's keeping me busy lately...
Keep an eye open for this interesting project named "Heaven's Floor", a Road to Nowhere Production featuring pretty cool peeps from all over, including Los Angeles, Toronto and Montréal, along with northern resources! :)
I've been shooting behind the scenes and more... quite an awesome experience!
Check out a few shots so far:
Amazing sunrise in Apex... not a bad way to start shooting, eh?

]]>Dhanyawad for dropping by and checking out more photos from our journey to India!
As previously posted in the small teaser, I am breaking this amazing trip into several posts, as India is so diverse and full of interesting things, it wouldn't be fair to even try to show everything in half a dozen shots... Even with all these photos, there's definitely lots and lots more to do and explore... but 3 weeks were good for us to sample a Taste of India...
Here's how it all started...
Right after touching down, we HAD to salute and say "Hi to Shah Rukh Khan", one of the most popular Bollywood stars: he is EVERYWHERE!
Yeah baby! Welcome to India!
Then, we flew to Dehradun, hometown of the Bahuguna's and celebrated Diwali there, the Festival of Lights.
"Diwali (English pronunciation: /dɪwɑːli/) also called the "festival of lights", is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn every year.[3][4] The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.[5][6][7] The festival preparations and rituals typically extend over a five day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartik. In the Gregorian calendar, Diwali night falls between mid-October and mid-November." - from Wikipedia!
Lots of fireworks everywhere!
and lots of lights!!!! like Christmas in the western world... :)
While riding around in an autorickshaw... our driver almost hit that guy... but he just acted as nothing happened and continued playing with his firecracker...
Cool times... maybe not, as we could have hit the news: "Rickshaw full of tourists explode after fireworks went off in the middle of the road"... hehehe
While in Dehradun, we had the chance to explore a bit of the indian life, and the honour to check out the hospitality of Parul's family and taste some of the awesome indian dishes, especially the home-made food!
BTW, if you feel like renting some floor space... check this out! Not really sure about the 2nd and 3rd floors...
We had the chance to visit Mussoorie, a hill station 35km away from Dehradun. Pretty cool ride through narrow and winding roads...
Worth checking out the "man powered" Ferris wheel!
Lots of monkeys!
And to wrap up this post, a cool view of Doon valley and the City Lights of Dehradun!
Talking about City Lights, stayed tuned for my next post, which will have some photos of Bombay!! and some behind the scene photos of the upcoming video of Koel and the Twin Otters, City Lights!
]]>Wow! what an awesome experience! India is an amazing country! If you have a chance to visit, DO IT!
I had the pleasure and honour of doing so this past November, along with a great group of people!
Yep, almost 3 weeks of great experience, from northern Dehradun to Mumbai, Delhi, Agra, Pushkar... lots of miles covered by autorickshaw, cars, trains, planes, pimped up chariots with crazy LED lights, hot-air balloon and camels! (Well, Julia even went for an elephant ride! :)
While there, we were able to attend and check out the Diwali Festival of lights AND a traditional indian wedding! how awesome can that be?!?!
Crazy at times, amazing food, beautiful landscape and welcoming people!
Dhanyawad big time for the patience as it takes a long while to go through a few thousand photos! and of course, it's hard to pick and choose which ones I should publish... So, in the next few days (and weeks), keep an eye open and you'll see some cool shots here on this blog!
Here's a few, just to start our journey ! Enjoy!
I took this one in Dehradun, one of our first "stops" in India, hometown of the Bahuguna's! The stores are full of fireworks and everybody's getting ready for Diwali, the festival of lights...
This one, we got stuck in traffic, right after we arrived in Bombay! or should I say Mumbai? Anyways... we look to the side and see this truck: RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL: DO NOT REMAIN NEAR THIS VEHICLE UNNECESSARILY!
i love it!
Autorickshaw and motorcycles/scooters! The best way of moving around in big cities, as the streets are packed with peeps and cars (and animals, hehe!
While in Bombay, we shot a video for Koel and the Twin Otter's City Lights, so check out soon their website for the latest updates!
Still in Mumbai, just beside the Prince of Wales museum saw a kid doing acrobatics:
and let's buy our cellphones from a "street vendor"!
Driving around in Pushkar, we saw camels...
And met a traditional man from Rajasthan offering prayers!
Gulab jamun, one of the best ways of keeping your glucose levels high up...
Taj Mahal: There will be a full post with photos from this day! it's quite an amazing spot! touristy, but still quite cool!
In Delhi, I'd avoid parking the car in a wrong spot...
And of course, the highlight of the trip: Traditional indian wedding! Congratulations Hitesh & Neha!
Dhanyawad for your time! and hope you can continue following our journey in the next post.

Here's a few shots of the Anglican Church's St. Jude Cathedral here in Iqaluit!
]]>Amazing concerts in Iqaluit this weekend, at the Inuksuk high school, brought you by Alianait Arts Festival!
Fun times with Jerry Cans & Elisapie Isaac:
Karliin Aariak & Marie Viivi Belleau MC'ing:
Master of the lights: Travis Daley!
]]>
Overkill and fake?
Maybe, hehe but I like the way it looks surreal... :) hope you guys enjoy it too!
It's the view from the balcony, after a small snowfall last night... Yep, we can see (and feel!) winter's coming fast! as the lake's starting to freeze!!
For those tech inclined, HDR stands for high dynamic range, and is the process of basically assembling together different photos, each one exposed for a certain area: highlights, shadows and midtones... I've used a combination of Photomatix Pro along with Lightroom to play with the RAW files from the camera!
Cheers,
Ed
]]>Guest speaker of the evening was Ed Ou! Amazing photographer based in the Middle-East!!! Wicked stories! Check out his website and keep an eye open as we will have a kick-ass story from him over there...
Then on saturday, wrapping up after the public consultation on the Les Priorités de la mise en oeuvre de la Loi sur les langues officielles, a concert at the francocentre with Andrea Lindsay et Luc de Larochelière! Good times and cool music indeed!
Dans les yeux de Michel Potvin et Mathieu Rene :)
and wrapping up the weekend, here's a quick HDR shot from our balcony! glad to see the sun shining again! lots of flare... :) but it's fun to play with a stack of photos! and for the "gear oriented peeps out there", still playing with the new camera, good to see a nice performance in dark environment, Voigtlander 17.5mm f/0.95 with the small EP5 seems to be doing the trick! and then the crazy flares doesn't bug me that much either!
]]>Great opportunity to drop by the Francocentre and enjoy some great music along with real espressos!
Koel and the Twin Otters are getting ready to launch their first ALBUM!!! Stay tuned! as the CD release party will be at the LEGION on October 12th!!! but in the meantime, lots of fun enjoying the last Coffee and Music of the season...
Great opportunity to play with a new camera and lens combo! Olympus EP-5 and a Voigtlander 17.5mm f/0.95! Hoooray! guess I've found the perfect combo for low AND travel LIGHT! :) Yep, low light as it seems like this lens "creates" light... and compared to a full frame body + lenses, it is a pretty sweet combination indeed!
Bit "tricky" to play with the shallow depth of field and focusing... Yeah, it's a sweet and COMPLETELY MANUAL lens! but guess it's a matter of getting out there and get used to it... I am a happy puppy!
]]>What an amazing day to boat down the Frobisher Bay... lots of warmth from the sun and from my friends as I was celebrating my birthday!!! Perfect day!!!
Getting ready! Zodiac time!
Sealift! That's HOW most of the "bulky" stuff gets here... Yep, NO roads to Nunavut... so...
The weather here changes in a matter of minutes... foggy or sunny... :)
What an amazing spot to have some food!!! What a fantastic scenery!!
As we ride down the bay... More 'bergs...
Birds!!! and from the distance, they look like PENGUINS! hehe
Seagull pooops while flying...
James spots from far away a floating block of ice with a SEAL...
BTW, I have a small piece in the freezer waiting for the BBQ to arrive, hopefully in the next week or so... I'll keep you guys posted as I'll try to smoke/BBQ the seal meat!!!! :)
Heading home after an awesome day outdoors!
Special thanks to Parul and Arctic Kingdom (James, Jacqueline and Brian) for the wonderful time out there!

Hooooray! Nice weather out there! Not exactly "hot", but it's always fun to spend sometime outdoors!
Days are long, nice to leave the office and still see lots of daylight! Naresh and I went to check out the pond by the airstrip at Sylvia Grinnell Park, as potentially some ducks were chilling in that area... No luck for ducks, but I was able to snap a few shots of some snowbunts!
]]>
Friday evening in Iqaluit, good times laughing at the Francophone Centre... where MaHaha took place!
Yeah, the Ticklish Monster is out there and he's gonna get ya!
Great job Nastania, Nanauq, Franco, Travis, Vinnie, Kris, Josh & Jeff!

Unfortunately we had two cool musical events here in town that overlapped, and I wasn't able to check out a great pianist (Angela Hewitt) performing at the igloo / anglican church.... I'm sure it must have been amazing... the acoustics over there must be sweeeeet for recitals!
Oh, well! Can't complain, as I was at the high school checking out another cool live event, from the Alianait Concert series:
Inuksuk drum dancers and Beatrice Deer!
Here's a few photos! Enjoy!
]]>
This is all new for me... Well, not the "internet" itself... but this whole idea of keeping, maintaining, doing the housekeeping of a website, well... a PROFESSIONAL photographer's website... yeah, this is NEW!
A new step forward... new challenge... but should be a fun ride! Thanks for any comments, support, criticism, droppin' a line (or more)!!!
Thanks a bunch!!! Valeuzasso! Merci infiniment! qujannamiik!!!
Cheers!
Ed
PS.: ok, it's my photography blog, so let me chat a bit about the photo posted here...
A few years ago I went for a hike down at the Sylvia Grinnell park here in Iqaluit, and although it was summer already,
well, shortly after Canada day... We still had lots of chunks of ice kicking around! So I had the coolest props ever at my feet and I started putting together an inuksuk... Fun times!
